LAKE WORTH BEACH — Last night, at the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council’s annual winter event, Rep. Lois Frankel angrily confronted opponent Victoria Doyle over her criticism of Frankel’s vote on a resolution last summer expressing “gratitude” to ICE for “protecting the homeland.” US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is an out-of-control rogue law enforcement agency given virtual carte blanche by the Trump administration that has been involved in an increasing number of shootings and violent arrests. Victoria Doyle released a video describing the verbal attack by Frankel. A transcript is below:

 

"Good Morning. Last night I was at a big Human Rights Council event in West Palm Beach and after meeting and greeting lots of supporters I was on my way out and so was Lois Frankel and when she saw me she stopped in her tracks and angrily confronted me because I’ve been calling out her vote in Congress for expressing gratitude to ICE for protecting the homeland. She’s never explained that vote and she certainly didn’t express any regret for it last night. And that’s the problem. Lois Frankel is not used to being called out to justify her actions which is why primary elections are so critical and in fact I think her anger proved she’s out of touch with the district and out of touch with what’s happening and we need change. I’m in this race to bring change, to be your voice, and to channel your frustrations with Congress, like my frustrations with Congress and the administration and the policies that are driving this country right now. If you support Lois Frankel that’s your choice. However  if you want change, I’m your candidate. I’m Victoria Doyle and I’m running for Congress in Palm Beach County and I hope I can earn your vote."

It’s time for change. I am running for Congress in Palm Beach County (FL-22 ) because it is painfully clear that our tax dollars are being mis-spent by the Federal Government. We have reached an affordability crisis, and the government is prioritizing lower taxes on the rich instead of affordable healthcare, housing, groceries, etc. We need to elect Democrats who are willing to fight for a bold agenda that helps the majority of Americans - not perpetuate the status quo system of rewarding big donors, while being vague, weak, and inactive on the issues that matter.

My name is Victoria Doyle, and if elected to Congress, I will fight to improve your economic well-being, protect your individual rights, guarantee your Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, push relentlessly for Medicare for All, support clean energy initiatives for job creation and climate-crisis mitigation, and make sure the billionaire class is paying taxes. I’ll also fearlessly fight the destructive and divisive policies of the current administration. It is hurting the vulnerable, chain-sawing essential government agencies, and damaging the economy with arbitrary tariffs, unaffordable tax cuts on those who need them least, and all but promoting political violence and hate-fueled division among ourselves and our neighbors. I also pledge to show up in the District - be reachable, accountable, direct, and honest. Let’s Go!
